Stay Active! Study Shows Too Much Sitting Causes Problems Down the Road
Researchers at Northwestern University say that too much sitting now can cause disabilities and make simple tasks challenging after turning 60.
“When a person sits for an extended period of time, your muscles burn less fat and your blood tends to flow more sluggishly,” says Dorothy Dunlop, a public health and medicine researcher who led the study. “And on top of that, when you slump in your chair, then your back and your stomach muscle goes unused.”
