Suspicious Package Reminder
At approximately 10:45 a.m. yesterday the Georgia World Congress Center Authority public safety department received a report of a suspicious package near the A3 marshalling yard. The package was evaluated by local law enforcement officials and technologists at the scene rendered the package safe by exploding it. Subsequently no harmful or dangerous materials were discovered and the “All Clear” was given at around 12:55 p.m.
The package itself was a black storage tube, commonly used for blueprints, large drawings or documents. During the course of the brief investigation, it was learned that an employee had noticed the same tube a couple of days prior.
As a reminder, the safety and well-being of our team members and guests is always our number one priority.
While we understand it is easy to make the mistake of overlooking items like this or other common personal items like backpacks, purses, suitcases etc. I am asking all staff to remain vigilant as you go about your routine activities. If you see something, say something immediately by calling public safety at ext. 4911.
