2015 SEC Football Championship Match-up: Who’s In?!

Potential Teams for the SEC Championship

SEC Standings

The SEC Football Championship Game, one of the biggest annual events we host on our campus, is fast approaching. This time of year the most common question we get is ‘Who is playing in the Game this year?’

So here is a quick update as we head into the final two weeks of the college football regular season.

The University of Florida is going to Atlanta for the 2015 SEC Championship.

The Eastern Division is simple, The University of Florida has already locked in their spot to play in the Championship Game, their 11th time overall in the game and ninth since it moved to the Dome in 1994.

On the other hand, the Western Division is not as simple just yet, with four teams still mathematically alive to advance to Atlanta; Alabama, Arkansas, LSU or Ole Miss.

Alabama has the inside track with a 6-1 league record, while the other three teams each have a 4-2 league record. Should LSU defeat Ole Miss on Saturday, the Tide will lock in their third trip to Atlanta in the last four years. If Ole Miss pulls out the W, we will not know who will advance to Atlanta until after the final week of the regular season.

As per usual with the SEC Championship game, the winner will be in a solid position for a spot in the College Football Playoff and ultimately compete for another SEC national championship; especially if it is Florida or Alabama.
