Congratulations to Sherrie Spinks for becoming the new General Manager of the Savannah International Trade & Convention Center (SITCC)! Below is an excerpt from an article by Trade Show Executive:
New Management Takes the Reins of High-Performing Savannah Convention Center
Sherrie Spinks became General Manager of the Savannah International Trade & Convention Center (SITCC) on January 13 after Bob Coffey, General Manager for 14 years, announced his new role as a consultant. She had been the Chief Financial Officer of the Georgia World Congress Center Authority (GWCCA). The SITCC is part of a unique 2014 agreement that turned management of the center over to the Georgia World Congress Center (Authority) in Atlanta.
“My goal for 2016 is to partner with the outstanding people here in Savannah and to continue the great things they have done in the past 15 years,” said Spinks, who came aboard at a good time. Things have been coming up roses in Savannah recently. Fiscal year numbers released last Summer noted much better-than-expected revenues for both the convention center and the city’s hotels.
The top priority for Spinks and the SITCC is to bring in more trade shows, meetings and other events to the building. The focus will be more heads in beds for the Savannah hotel community and the city’s coffers.
