Traffic Concerns for Sunday, Jan. 22
On Sunday, we have multiple events on the Georgia World Congress Center Authority campus that will cause some traffic issues – and rain is also forecast – so staff should plan ahead to allow extra time for getting here.
Prior to the NFC Championship Game at the Georgia Dome on Sunday, approximately 15,000 runners are participating in the Hot Chocolate 15K/5K race, which will close roads throughout downtown and cause traffic diversion. The race starts at 7:30 a.m. Sunday.
For suggested routes to the Marshaling Yard/Yellow Lot, click here: staff-routing-map. The same route can be used to access the Gold Deck and Blue Lot. Road closures will be programmed into the WAZE app so don’t be afraid to follow the app’s directions.

“As you will see, Northside Drive and Ivan Allen Blvd. will be in use for runners,” said Erik Waldman, Sr. Director of Logistics and Georgia Dome Events. “Use caution when pulling into the lots and follow the instruction of officers at all times. Access to the Red Deck from Centennial Olympic Park Drive and Andrew Young International Blvd. (AYIB) will not be an issue. Access to AYIB from Marietta will be restricted to shuttle buses for ALA and load-in vehicles for International Plaza. If we receive additional information leading up to Sunday, I’ll be sure to communicate.”
