Everybody Wins! Reading Program Opportunity – Sign Up To Be A Mentor Today!

As discussed during last month’s Training Day by Tim Trefzer, our Corporate Social Responsibility Manager, the GWCCA will continue its efforts of impacting our local community through various programs and activities. This fiscal year, our BASE (Basic Needs, Arts & Education, Shelter and Environment) platform will be activated and the Q1 focus is on Arts & Education. Make a difference – become a reading mentor today!

If you apply (http://www.everybodywinsatlanta.org/power-lunch/), you’ll be assigned a local elementary school student to read to weekly for thirty minutes during their lunch break throughout the school year. You will get to choose the school that you’ll be reading at and the two closest to GWCCA are Centennial Academy (only 0.7 miles away across from the Coca-Cola HQ) and Dunbar Elementary School is less than 2 miles away on the other side of I-20.

Studies show that reading aloud to a child is the best way to improve literacy and 66% of Georgia’s fourth graders cannot read at a proficient level. Remember: these are our future employees, customers, and advocates. A better Atlanta means a better Authority!

Each of you are the reason why our new strategic social and environmental sustainability efforts will help make us the #1 convention, sports, and entertainment destination in the world!

Please contact Tim Trefzer (ttrefzer@gwcc.com), Corporate Social Responsibility Manager if you are interested in becoming a corporate social responsibility ambassador!
