Recap: Atlanta Mission/CSR Lunch n Learn

Yesterday, the Corporate Social Responsibility team hosted a Lunch n Learn to inform employees about the Authority’s new partnership with the Atlanta Mission. Peter Flaaen, the Atlanta Mission’s Director of Partnerships and Volunteer Services, spoke with employees about the Mission’s history as well as opportunities for assistance.

Did you know that over 7,000 individuals are homeless in Atlanta on any given night? The Mission is a nonprofit organization that now has several metro-Atlanta facilities dedicated to serving a large homeless population. They provide emergency shelter, rehab and recovery services, vocational training, services, and transitional housing. Their men’s facility, The Shepherd’s Inn, is located mere steps from Centennial Olympic Park on the corner of Ivan Allen Jr. Blvd. and Centennial Olympic Park Drive/Techwood.

During the Lunch n Learn, Tim Trefzer presented the Atlanta Mission with towels (collected from Authority employees) and Georgia Dome blankets (made from recycled Team Dome uniforms). Thank you to all who donated! Through this new partnership, there will be an abundance of CSR programs and activities to participate in, please stay tuned to Catalyst for the latest information.
